Our Founder

Grenita C. Brooks, MSW, CNP

Founder / Executive Director

Grenita is the founder of the International Mentoring Society. Her experience in the mentoring profession has prompted an urgency to create an umbrella of organizations that will serve youth from every walk of life at any age and stage of development.

Grenita’s passion for underprivileged and underserved youth has encouraged her educational path. She has an Associates of Art’s degree with a focus on Early Childhood Development. Grenita holds a Bachelor of Science in Social Work, a Children’s Services Certification, and is nationally credentialed in nonprofit management. Additionally, she has a master’s degree in clinical social work from the University of Central Florida.

Grenita has a background in Child welfare and Case management and she’s currently employed with Brevard Public School’s where she is a school-based social worker at McNair Magnet Middle School; the middle school she attended as a teenager.

Grenita has spent the last several years developing IMS and is currently developing an international certification for mentoring.

In her free time, Mrs. Brooks enjoys doing crafts, reading, and traveling to new places with her family. Her life’s mantra is to “collect memories and not things”.

Anthony Blunt

Mount Up Program Director

Anthony Blunt is a Central Florida Native, born in Orlando and raised in Eustis.  He has been married to his college sweetheart, Courtenay Blunt, for 12 years and they have 3 kids; Ceriah (11), Anthony Jr. (10) and Briel (8).  They met at Bethune-Cookman University where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. 

Anthony serves as the Vice-President of Rockledge Youth Football and Cheerleading League, Treasurer of the Iota Beta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., Minister to the Church of Christ at Lake Nona and he works as the Director of Business Services at Space Coast Credit Union.

Anthony has worked with youth in many capacities since 2006 including a Residential Youth Counsellor (DJJ), After-School Program Director, Youth Minister, Coach (Football and Track) and Mentor with Take Stock in Children.  Growing up in a single parent home until the age of 13, it was the influence of his uncles and men in the community that inspired him to want more.  That same inspiration is what motivates him to give back to local youth to ensure they have positive male role models that hold them accountable.

Hobbies he enjoys sharing with youth include basketball, fishing, listening to music, swimming, playing card/board games and just having a good time!!!

Ethelene Smith

Treasurer

Ethelene Smith is a retired General Accounting Manager with the Boeing Company.  She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Management and 30 years’ experience in general accounting. 

She currently serves as Treasurer and Minister in her local Church, as well as a member of various Church activity groups.

Sharon Knight

Secretary/ Youth Mentor Trainer

Sharon Knight is a Brevard Public Schools Educator. She has served the students of Brevard County as a middle school English and Language Arts teacher for over 14 years.  Sharon has a passion for teenagers and strives to help them realize their full potential. She holds a Master’s Degree in Education Leadership and Policy from UT Arlington and a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication from Grambling State University in Louisiana. 

Sharon assists several non-profit organizations by serving as a leader on their Board of Directors and leadership teams. She has dedicated her life to the education of underprivileged youth and underrepresented populations in her community.

Derrain Cole

Board Member

Derrain Cole is an Air Force reservist with 21 years of service (and counting) who additionally works for a local software company, Technology Revelations, Inc. as a computer storage administrator serving both government and private organizations. Derrain believes in the inherent worth and dignity of every person. He has spent the last 4 years guiding individuals through networked systems and professional training and has been selected to take part in writing organization-wide training material and been named subject matter expert in the IT field on several occasions during his military service. Derrain holds degrees/certifications specifically in the disciplines of computer security, database administration, and storage administration within the IT industry. In his spare time, Derrain enjoys traveling and spending time with friends and family (he believes age 3 is the best age…so far :-)).

Kutana Parrish

Board Member

Kutana Parrish is a native of Cocoa, FL in Brevard County. She attended Saturn Elementary, Clearlake Middle School, Cocoa High School, and Brevard Community College.

Kutana is a Professional School Counselor who enjoys serving students, parents, staff, and community stakeholders. After working as a Professional Teacher for 17 years in Pinellas County, Florida, Kutana pursued her gift in counseling. If you asked her which one, she likes best, teaching or counseling. Her response will be, “I enjoy both”. She enjoyed full-time teaching during that tenure of her life. Now she enjoys counseling during this time of her life. Being a counselor allows her to counsel and teach.

Kutana served as Youth Pastor for 16 years in Pinellas County. Kutana is the CEO and Founder of Renovate Within. 

She earned her Associates Degree from what was formerly named Brevard Community College. Kutana holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education (Florida A & M). She earned two Master Degrees: Education and Counseling (Marriage & Family) (St. Petersburg Theological Seminary, and additional classes from Southeastern University to be a Certified in School Counseling.

Kutana enjoys co-facilitating a women group for her church. Kutana has been married over 20 year to Carver Parrish. She loves traveling with her husband. Her favorite places are by beaches, mountains, lakes, parks, and relaxing at home. Through her growth and transformation over the years, she has come to enjoy cooking and caring for her plants.

“Chelsea is a GIS Transportation Analyst for the Space Coast Transportation Planning
Organization, where she manages, analyzes, and creates visualizations for transportation data in Brevard County. Before pursuing her Masters in Computer Information Systems, Chelsea’s passion and interest in design and consumer behavior led her to study a dual degree in International Business and Marketing. Chelsea credits her sister’s mentoring for giving her the courage to pursue her career path and professional success. Her experience being a mentee encouraged her to come onboard and believe in IMS’s vision, to inspire and expose young adults to possibilities beyond their environment. With her background, she hopes to assist IMS market their programs and inspire the next generation.


On her off hours, you can find her spending time with friends and family, traveling, and exploring our oceans by scuba diving!”
